The first Sunday of September was characterized in by the Eco Zelbio Trail, a foot race on the fascinating 24-kilometer route with 840 meters of elevation gain.
A real treat for all sports lovers immersed in nature and beautiful landscapes, with local specialists, but not only, who did not miss the opportunity to live a day immersed in the paths that hosted the route. Departure from Pian di Nesso and arrival in Pian del Tivano, passing on the summit of Monte Palanzone and under Monte San Primo. All with the wonderful background of the Lario.
To organize the event, now in its second edition after that of 2019, the company CareUp. «There were 120 competitors at the start – says Matteo Vargio, responsible for the track and safety of the event -, a number that leaves us more than satisfied. In fact, we consider that on the same day two other national events were scheduled in Lombardy, in Brescia and in Valtellina, with Italian titles up for grabs. These competitions have had a similar response from subscribers to ours».
Event organized in collaboration with Enervit and, representing the famous company of food supplements, at the start among the competitors there was also his Pino Sorbini, accompanied by the president of the Pro Loco of Zelbio, Paolo Sorbini. «The Eco Zelbio Trail – continues Vargiu – was born from the synergy between CareUp, which deals with corporate wellness by promoting well-being in the workplace, and Enervit, with the common intention to organize a sporting event that would put the focus of attention physical well-being. The best way to do this was by choosing a place like this, one of the most popular with mountain and outdoor walking enthusiasts, which, however, did not host any competitions at a competitive level. The idea is that, over the years, to make this event a classic appointment in the Lombard sports calendar».
Let’s speak about the results. The race was won by Simone Paredi, an athlete from Como who runs for Atletica Pidaggia, able to complete the track in 1 hour 50 minutes and 5 seconds. Behind him another expert of the mountains surrounding the Lario, Moreno Sala (Gsa Cometa), by Bosisio Parini, second in 1h53’29”. To complete the men’s podium was Dario Rigonelli of Osa Valmadrera, third in 1h54 ’01”. Smiling in the women’s field was Cristina Rizzi (Gsa Cometa) from Erba, capable of beating all her opponents thanks to a performance of 2h28’16”. Second position for Ombretta Riboldi (Daini Carate Brianza) in 2h30’29” and third for Federica Orsenigo (Multisport Cantù) in 2h35’02”.
