The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Ghisallo, of medieval origin, stands on the Ghisallo pass, a road pass connecting the Valtellina with the upper part of the Larian Triangle.
According to the legend, the name derives from a certain Ghisallo who vowed to the Madonna to build a church if he had escaped from an attack by brigands. A place that mixes the sacred and the profane, it has become famous not only because it is the site of the Sanctuary, but also of the Cycling Museum which boasts the largest collection of pink sweaters in the world. Furthermore, the climb that you face to get to the Sanctuary is very much appreciated by cyclists and often included in the tour of Lombardy and Italy. In the square in front of the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Ghisallo you can also admire the monument to the cyclist depicting Coppi and Bartali.
