The path of Monte Muggio
This is an excursion suitable for the whole family, thanks to which it is possible to enjoy a unique landscape with a view of the surrounding peaks: the Grigna, Monte Legnone, Legnoncino, Pizzo Tre Signori, Monte San Primo, the Monte Rosa group, the Valchiavenna peaks and above all Lake Como.
By car, follow the signs for Taceno. After Taceno, reach the first houses of Casargo, turn left and continue past Indovero and Narro. Follow the signs for Alpe Giumello, where you will find a large pay car park.
Route
Once you reach the pay car park, follow the path on the right with the signs “Anello Monte Muggio” following the road of the same name.
After a stretch of low difficulty, following the mule track through the woods, you will reach the church of San Ulderico (1394 m), an ancient mountain church dating back to the 11th century; here a spectacular view of Monte Legnone awaits you.
Continuing along the path, you come to another extraordinary panoramic viewpoint overlooking Lake Como. Now you are above the villages of Dervio and Bellano; from here you can also see Balbianello Peak and Menaggio.
To complete the route, you will need another hour and a half of walking. First you will reach the Capanna Vittoria refuge and then you will return to the Alpe di Giumello car park.
