Villa del Grumello
Villa Olmo, the beginning of the route, is an imposing Neoclassic Villa, home to events and exhibitions, not far from the Como city center. The park at the back of the villa is currently closed for reclassification operations. From Villa Olmo begins the walk: you cross the Ponte del Grumello and you reach the park of the beautiful Villa del Grumello that extends for 4 hectares.
Villa del Grumello here you can admire the ex-stables, the greenhouses and the charming chapel just restored, located in a secluded part of the forest and dedicated to Paolo Celesia, the author of the original project of the park.
The route continues to the park of Villa Sucota, home of the Antonio Ratti Foundation since 2010. Here are accessible several structures such as the pavilion of Music, the lemon house, the greenhouse, the chapel and the belvedere. The park offers a breath-taking view and is enriched by contemporary art installations as well as events, exhibitions and workshops organized by the Foundation.
The Kilometer of Knowledge is a cultural journey, a meeting place of great historical and naturalistic value, created by the Chamber of Commerce of Como, in collaboration with the Municipality of Como, the Villa del Grumello Association, the Antonio Ratti Foundation, the Sant’Anna Hospital of Como and the Ca’ industria Foundation with the support of the Cariplo Foundation, the Comunità Comasca Foundation and the Banca del Monte di Lombardia Foundation.
