The Basilica di San Nicolò
The Bell Tower of Lecco with its 96 meters high, is among the highest in Europe.
You can’t leave Lecco before visiting its most important Church: the Basilica di San Nicolò, patron saint of sailors and boatmen.
With its neoclassical facade and its wide parvis, the church is easy to reach by a double stone staircase. It now houses the deanery of the Archdiocese of Milan. Its main peculiarity is definitely the 96 m tall bell tower also known as “the Matitone”, one of the highest in all Italy. You may also book a tour on this great belfry and enjoy a special view on the city itself!
