San Bartolomeo – Mount Berlinghera

To reach the starting point of this trail by car, from Gera Lario you must first follow the signs for Bugiallo and then those for San Bartolomeo.

Once you reach the small church of San Bartolomeo you will find a small car park.

From here, follow the sign Sasso Canale/Alpe di Mezzo through a wood and, after passing some houses, turn left along a dirt path. Follow the path and you will come close to the Alpe di Mezzo and the Alpe di Pescedo. Here you must continue straight on towards the electric pylon that will be in front of you.

When you arrive at the red signpost, follow the path (not well marked) in the direction of Bocchetta Chiaro where you will find a second electric pylon.

When you reach the Bocchetta Chiaro, turn right along the path that leads to the Vetta Berlinghera, a stretch of which is through the woods. Along the path you will find a cross from which you can admire the Sasso Canale.

The long-awaited peak is not far away; if you continue for about ten minutes you will reach a mausoleum dedicated to the Alpine soldiers, which is the final destination. From here you can admire a fantastic panorama of Lake Como, Lake Mezzola and the surrounding peaks.
