Mount Grona
Mount Grona, at an altitude of 1,736 metres, located on the western shore of the lake, enjoys an incredible view of Lake Como and Lake Lugano.
It is a quite hard route but at the end of it all the effort will be rewarded by the panoramic view. For families and the less trained, we recommend stopping at the Refuge Menaggio, whose position offers the possibility to admire the lake and the surrounding mountains.
Route
The excursion starts at the Grona car park, located after the village of Breglia; from here you follow the path to the Refuge Menaggio where you can enjoy unmissable views.
Once at the Refuge, continue straight ahead along the panoramic path that leads to the top of the mountain, recommended only for experts.
Shortly before the peak, there is an iron path useful for overcoming a small rocky section. In addition, there is a second rope to facilitate reaching the cross located on the summit. From the top of Monte Grona you will enjoy a fantastic view of the lake, the Grignone and the Grignetta located on the opposite bank.
To the left of the Grigne you can admire the Pizzo dei Tre Signori, the Cross of Muggio, the Legnone and the Legnoncino. You can also admire Mount Bregagno and Mount Crocione.
