Il giardino del pane

The bread as it used to be.

The garden is the place where life grows, thanks to the dedication of those who look after it. So, at Giardino del Pane, our work is constantly driven by the desire to offer baked goods that are simply good and made with care.

I’m Mara, a biomedical engineer with a great passion for sourdough and leavening in general, which I’ve been carrying on since 2011 and which pushed me to change my life. So, in 2018, I opened our artisan bakery with my husband Matteo.

We want to give value back to bread, an undervalued food, which we make with a live sourdough starter and two leavening times, with quality flours, semi-integral and integral, stone-ground from organic Italian grains. The result is a bread that is digestible, nutritious, aromatic and will keep for several days. We cultivate relationships with other producers, local and otherwise, favouring the direct purchase of raw materials.

In our workshop in Erba we also produce panettone, biscuits, breadsticks and pizza.
We organise courses, also available in English, with the possibility of lakefront accommodation in the beautiful historic centre of Lecco.
