Great show on Sunday 12 September on the lakeside of Valmadrera for the sixth edition of the ComoLake Triathlon in Valmadrera, a sprint distance race that saw over 200 competitors at the starting line. In the control room, as usual, the Spartacus Events led by the president Renzo Straniero, able to exploit a well-established formula to close the summer of sporting events on the banks of the Lario in the best possible way.
A discipline of great charm, combining three specialties in a single sport, triathlon has proved to be a great attraction for both enthusiasts and the curious, ready to discover its characteristics perhaps for the first time. A winning combination between sport and spectacular landscapes. The event proposed a first swimming leg over a distance of 750 meters, to be completed in a triangular track with start and finish in the small port of Valmadrera.
Once out of the water, the participants ventured into 20 km cycling divided over three laps of the ring specially designed along the historic center and the outskirts of the municipality, with a turning point and two particularly demanding curves from a technical point of view. Finally, the third fraction, with a 5 km walk, on an entirely asphalted path through the Rio Torto Park, with the two short climbs of the Collina del Maglio and Collina Battisti to characterize the final portion of the race, before the finish line in the port of Parè.
The victory went to Michele Bonacina among the males and Martina Borghi in the women’s field. Bonacina, class ’96 of Dolzago color bearer of the Valdigne Triathlon, completed the test in 58’55”, preceding on the podium Matteo Bonalumi of team 707, second in 59’10”, and Ivan Risti, athlete from Casatenovo of the Swatt Tri Club, third in 59’56”. For Borghi, from ’94 and registered for the Cantù Pool, success in 1h16’09” with Elisa Della Tor of Cus Propatria Milano second in1h18’20” and Deborah Spinelli of Rho Triathlon third in 1h21’16”.
Satisfied at the end of the day Renzo Straniero, number one in the sport organized in the Lecco area:
«A day to be framed for the sixth ComoLake Triathlon in Valmadrera which saw 250 athletes departing from all over Italy to challenge each other along the streets of the historic center and outskirts of the city, completely closed for the occasion. The two winners kept faith with the initial predictions, while at the organizational level the consensus from athletes and technicians regarding the technical qualities of the race tracks were more than positive, confirming once again Valmadrera queen of the triple discipline and ideal location for the triathlon. As Spartacus Events we thank the active availability of the Municipal Administration of Valmadrera and the collaboration of all the Associations that have supported us».
