Health care
Foreign citizens temporarily present for a period not exceeding 90 days (eg tourists), can take advantage of urgent and elective health services upon payment of the relative regional rates.
EU citizens and non-EU citizens from countries with agreements can obtain services in a direct way, free of charge, except for the payment of a ticket, at public and private structures affiliated with the National Health Service.
Non-EU citizens from non-affiliated countries are insured for the health services for which the relative rates must be paid. Italian citizens, registered AIRE (Italian Register of Residents Abroad), having the status of emigrant and / or pension holders paid by Italian social security institutions, who temporarily return to Italy and do not have insurance coverage, public or private, are recognized, for free, urgent hospital services and for a maximum period of 90 days for each calendar year.
