In the medieval period on the territory were born numerous fortifications including many castles that, exploiting the predominant positions, were the subject of contention between the Republic of Venice and the Duchy of Milan. In a report written in 1616 with the aim of assessing and describing the state of the defenses existing in San Martino Valley, visitors to Veneto did not hesitate to mention the aforementioned localities where, and this is not a case, some of the most interesting evidence of fortified architecture of the valley. Various testimonies have come down to us all to visit and admire. The whole valley is crossed by a dense network of paths and mule tracks, which allow you to cross and explore the whole territory. Small churches hidden in the woods and ancient rural settlements placed above the last towns make discover wild animals and beautiful rare flowers.
